Call to Action in Eye Health – Save the Date(s)

CTAA request from Suresh Munyal, Local Eye Health Network Chair person for Arden, Herefordshire and Worcestershire:

Dear All,

I would be most grateful if you would circulate the message below to your colleagues and interested parties in eye health and hold this date.

Call to Action in Eye Health is potentially a milestone in the history of eye health. It is your opportunity to give feedback to NHS England as to the future of
your patients, colleague and all concerned in delivering and receiving eye healthcare in England. Our deadline in the 12th of September to collect and send all comments.

At these meetings we will be collecting your opinions and forward them to NHS England for consideration and possible implementation. The main aim is to improve quality and accessibility of eye health services in primary care thus reducing any unnecessary load on secondary care.

Please circulate this message to as many eye health stakeholders, ophthalmologists, orthoptists, optometrists, eye nurses, doctors with special interest in eyes, social workers with special interests in eyes,
and patient groups and anyone else who has something to contribute.

I will of course forward further details as regards exact venues.

Good wishes and kind regards
Suresh Munyal MSc MCOptom
Local Eye Health Network Chair person for Arden, Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

Dear Colleagues

Re: Improving Eye Health and Reducing Sight Loss – A Call to Action

On behalf of Arden, Herefordshire and Worcestershire Area Team I would like to invite you to attend one of two area stakeholder events on Improving Eye Health and Reducing Sight Loss – A Call to Action.

You will be aware that NHS England have recently published the ‘Improving Eye Health and Reducing Sight Loss – A Call to Action’ document. These events will give us the opportunity to facilitate local discussions on NHS Optometry issues around the aims of improving eye health and give you a chance to directly contribute to the Call to Action discussion.

Nick Cook, MRCOPHTH MRCGP Primary Care Ophthalmologist, will be speaking.

Both events will be exactly the same so please could I ask you to choose the one which is most convenient:

Wednesday 13 August   – 6.00pm – 9.00pm – Worcester (Venue TBC)
Wednesday 20 August – 6.00-9.00pm – Coventry (Venue TBC)
The workshops are being supported by the Local Eye Health LPN and give an opportunity to also hear more about how the network is developing.

Places are limited, so please indicate your intention to attend by sending an email to Sandra Wilding, Admin Support, Commissioning,Sandra.wilding@nhs.net by Monday 4 August 2014.

Regards

Jan

CET Grant Claim Forms Published

AOPAssociation of Optometrists Policy Director, David Craig, has issued the following information regarding this years CET Grant Claim Form:

The claim form for the CET grant for optometrists in England has been published and is available on the AOP website:

 http://www.aop.org.uk/practitioner-advice/cet/claiming-your-cet-funding

Note the window for making claims runs from 14 July to 14 November. Forms for performers should be sent to the Area Team which manages the performer’s list entry. As in previous years, the grant must be claimed via a contractor.

The AOP suggests that members should retain a copy of their claim form and should confirm receipt with their Area Team – it is not unknown for forms to have gone astray.

Claim forms for Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales are expected to be published shortly.

The Optical Confederation will be publishing guidance on claiming the grant in the next few days.
