Dear All,
We are starting the email referrals on Monday 2nd March 2020. Please ensure practitioners only use NHS.net for the referrals.
Also when attaching the referral form please save the form as the patient’s surname.
If there is insufficient information on the referral to make a clinical decision we will reply to the email to gain further information before accepting the referral.
The email address is uhcw.eyecasualty@nhs.net – they will get an automatic reply so that they know that the referral has been received.
The email is manned between 9am-5pm Monday to Friday- if you see the patient and feel they require assessment out of these times then please send to A+E as per your current practice.
Please note that we recommend using the e-referral for things that require 24hr to 3day referral and NOT the same day/ same session patients. For these we still recommend them walking in with a referral but an email would be encouraged so we can best plan for them.
