Coventry Opticians Shortlisted for Multiple AOP Awards


Eyesite Eyecare Centres of Coventry has been shortlisted for four accolades at this year’s AOP Awards. The independent chain, which has three practices within the city, has been shortlisted for Practice of the Year and has finalists in three categories for specific roles. We are also proud to say that two of the finalists are members of the Coventry and Warwickshire LOC:

Suresh Munyal, LOC member, is a finalist in the Contact Lens Practitioner of the Year category.

Dilesh Makwana, LOC Secretary, is a finalist in the Newly Qualified Optometrist of the Year category.

2016 Coventry and Warwickshire LOC AGM- Farewells and New Faces


On Thursday 18th May 2016 the CAW LOC AGM was held at the Warwick Arms Hotel. 

The evening saw us bid a fond farewell Treasurer Carolann Flanagan and Vice Chair Jayne Dunn who leave their posts and the LOC. Chris Grey, who sent his apologies, will also be stepping down. We wish to thank them for their hard work and service. Francesca Marchetti who will also be stepping down as Secretary will continue as a member of the LOC. Dilesh Makwana will take up the post as the LOC Secretary. 

We also welcomed and wish to congratulate three new LOC members: Gurpreet Bains, Sukhi Cheema and Jon Belcher.

We would like to thank Rosemary Robinson who delivered a invaluable Glaucoma lecture, Scope Ophthalmics for their exhibition stand and sponsorship, and Warwickshire Vision Support for their exhibition stand. 

Finally, thank you for all those that attended and making the evening such a success.

Chris Baddon , our fabulously chatty Ophthalmologist as you can see is going to talk to us about “Vitreoretinal disorders: How to spot them, who and when to refer, and what to tell the patient.”… HOWEVER , he would love to do a shorter talk with more of a questioning and answering session.

LOC AGM 2015 – A Very Special AGM


Screen Shot 2014-03-03 at 21.56.50This year’s AGM is a special one as it formalises the merging of Coventry and Warwickshire LOCs. As such, all current committee members and officers who wish to continue their roles will have to be voted back in. This also gives any Optometrists or Dispensing Opticians from within the area the chance to become a member of the new LOC.

The AGM is at The Warwick Arms Hotel, Warwick CV34 4AT at 6:15pm for a 6:30pm start on Thursday 21st May 2015.

Chris Baddon, Vitreo-Retinal Surgeon at Warwick Hospital, will deliver a CET accredited lecture titled, Where Does Optometry Stop and Ophthalmology Begin? 

There will also be an exhibition supplied by Mainline Optical and Thea Pharmaceuticals.
